Students will learn about foodborne illness and how restaurant diners can become infected.

Students will have opportunities to investigate the various organisms that cause foodborne illnesses, what foods contain them, and how they affect humans who become ill.

Students will learn to look for restaurant food safety scores before dining in a restaurant.

Students will learn to leave a restaurant that does not have a score of an A, to lessen the chances of them contracting a foodborne illness.

Students will learn the proper way to wash hands in a public restroom.

Students will learn the various ways unsafe handling of food and utensils in a restaurant can make restaurant food unsafe to eat.

Students will learn how to handle situations in restaurants when they suspect the food or utensils may have been handled improperly.

Students will learn the proper way to transport, store, and re-heat leftover restaurant food.

Students will have opportunities to explore the restaurant business and how a variety of factors can affect the safety of the food patrons are served.

Students will have opportunities to attempt to influence a variety of policy makers, restaurant owners, workers, and diners to encourage an improvement in restaurant food safety.
